Biography:
With a profound belief in the power of experiential learning, Dr.P has masterfully blended the rigor of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education with the boundless classroom of the natural world. Through an innovative teaching style that emphasizes hands-on, inquiry-based learning, students are not only engaging with complex STEM concepts but are also developing a deep appreciation and understanding of the environment around them.  This passion had lead him to establish the NexGen STEM Academy after years of applying this mindset and education approach to prior STEM programs.

Central to this his philosophy is the practice of nature journaling. This method serves as a cornerstone of his teaching approach, encouraging students to cultivate their observational skills by recording and reflecting on the natural world. This practice goes beyond merely noting observations; it involves a deeper scientific inquiry, asking questions, and seeking answers through further exploration and research. Through this process, students become young naturalists, equipped with the tools and mindset to explore, question, and understand the ecosystems they inhabit.

The impact of Dr. P’s work is evident in the transformation seen in his students. By connecting STEM education with nature journaling and scientific observation, students develop a holistic view of the natural world, understanding its complexity and the importance of its preservation. They learn to observe not just with their eyes but with their minds and hearts, fostering a lifelong curiosity and respect for nature.

His innovative approach is helping to shape a new generation of thinkers, problem solvers, and, most importantly, stewards of the earth. In an age where technological advancements and environmental challenges coexist, this unique blend of STEM education and nature-based learning is not only innovative but essential. Through his dedication and visionary teaching style, he is not just teaching students to excel academically; he is nurturing young naturalists who will lead the way in understanding and protecting our planet.

His belief in experiential learning and his unique approach to education are rooted in the practice of nature journaling. This method is more than a teaching tool; it's a gateway for students to develop keen observational skills and a deep-seated appreciation for the natural world. Under his guidance, students evolve into young naturalists, equipped with a scientific curiosity and an intrinsic desire to explore and understand the environment around them.

The impact of his work extends beyond the classroom, earning him prestigious accolades that underscore his contributions to STEM education. In 2017, he was honored with the Excellence in STEM Education Award at STEMCON, highlighting his innovative approaches to teaching. That same year, Dr.P was recognized as a National Finalist for the Edward C. Roy Jr. Excellence in K-8th Earth Science Teaching Award, further cementing his status as a leader in integrating earth science into the STEM curriculum.

Pavlekovich's commitment to excellence in STEM education was also recognized in 2015 with an Excellence in STEM Education Award at The Florida Educational Technology Conference. This award celebrated his adept use of technology to further enrich his students' learning experiences and connection to the natural world.

In 2012, his innovative teaching methods and his profound impact on his students' learning and growth were recognized on both a state and local level. He was a Finalist for Maryland Teacher of the Year and was honored as the 2012 Wicomico Teacher of the Year, showcasing his significant contributions to education in Maryland.

Through his dedication to connecting STEM education with the natural environment, Dr. P is not only teaching students to excel academically but is also nurturing a generation of environmental stewards. His awards and accolades reflect a career dedicated to innovation, excellence, and a profound commitment to fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of our planet.

Outside the classroom, Dr.P’s life is rich with hobbies and interests that reflect his creative and explorative spirit. He shares a deep connection with his wife, Jessica, an artist and art teacher, with whom he finds synergy in their shared appreciation for creativity and expression. This bond is further enriched by their two daughters, Stevie Hazel and Rowan Sage, with whom Chad loves to spend time exploring the outdoors, engaging in artistic activities, and instilling in them a love for nature and creativity.
An avid gardener, Dr. P finds solace and joy in tending to his garden, an activity that not only allows him to connect with the earth but also serves as a living classroom for his daughters, teaching them about the cycles of life and the importance of nurturing the environment. His interest in technology finds an outlet in 3D printing, where he experiments with creating educational models for his classroom, as well as toys and puzzles that spark curiosity and imagination in Stevie Hazel and Rowan Sage.
A proud supporter of Pittsburgh's sports teams, Dr. P enjoys the camaraderie and spirit of competition that comes with rooting for his hometown favorites. This sense of community and teamwork is something he cherishes and instills in his family and students alike.

Growing up in the '80s has left Dr. P with a fond nostalgia for retro video games and Dungeons & Dragons. He relishes the opportunity to introduce these classics to his daughters, using them as tools for storytelling, problem-solving, and imaginative play. These games not only serve as a bridge to his childhood but also as a way to connect with his daughters, sharing in adventures that transcend generations.
